Day 36: Richmond IN to Marysville OH

Our 104-mile ride from Richmond IN to Marysville OH today started with the morning temperature being a little cool (53F), but like the day before we started removing our windbreakers or vests within an hour or so after starting.  The roads were relatively flat and the wind, if any, was mild, so it was another day to just log miles and take in whatever scenery our route provided.

We arrived at our 8th state line by Mile 3 today.  The quality of the sign made us
feel like we were entering through the back door.

Early morning scene on SR 121 in Ohio.

Lots of gently rolling rural roads this morning with light traffic.

On the road with Michael and Tim, both enjoyable riding partners

Wheat fields were looking good.  It's a shame we won't be around to see the amber waves.

Unusual silo texture.

Late morning on the road to Marysville.

View of some small falls from a bridge where.....

.....Michael (black jersey) and Tim (red jacket) and I met the two cyclists on the left.
They are from Ohio and have a friend who did the CrossRoads tour in 2011.

Interesting octagonal barn on wonderful rural road

Catching up with Barry, Pierre, and King Richard
(I don't get to ride enough with these fast likeable guys, so I wanted to document
that I actually could ride with them, if even for a few seconds)

And later on.....more wonderful rural roads......

.....and more barn quilts.  This one is called a Maple Leaf Quilt Pattern, and was part
of the 2006 Champaign County Barn Quilt Tour.

That's it.  A long day, but one with good weather and generally peaceful roads.

  1. Ok to wear a Michigan Brew jersey in Ohio; but I would recommend not wearing the Maize & Blue one. How could Doreen pass up a chance to drive to Marysville?

  2. Thanks Denis. No, I did not wear the U of Michigan jersey in Ohio. It was a hit in the southwest though.
